Thrillpeddlers have been performing authentic Grand Guignol horror plays, outrageous Theatre of the Ridiculous musicals, and spine-tingling lights-out spookshows in San Francisco for nearly 20 years.

In 2008, Thrillpeddlers embraced another niche theatrical genre with the company’s annual Theatre of the Ridiculous Revival. That year they performed productions of Charles Busch’s THEODORA, SHE-BITCH OF BYZANTIUM; Charles Ludlam’s JACK IN THE BEANSTALK; and Link Martin and Scrumbly Koldewyn’s PEARLS OVER SHANGHAI. The tradition continues today, with several more works added to the repetoire, including Vice Palace, Hot Greeks, Tinsel Tarts in a Hot Coma, and Club Inferno. Recent iterations include a reprise of CLUB INFERNO,  a glam-rock musical based on Dante’s Divine Comedy and THE UNTAMED STAGE: Weimar Berlin Kabarett, a new two-act musical by Scrumbly Koldewyn.

An annual presentation of Grand Guignol horror and titilation. Thrillpeddlers presented the first Shocktoberfest in 1999 at The Exit Theatre with the intention of presenting an annual festival of Grand Guignol horror theatre and sex farces during the Halloween season. After several years of performances at The Exit, The Odeon, and the SF Performing Arts Library and Museum, Thrillpeddlers found a permanent home at the Hypnodrome in SF’s SOMA district. Outfitted with a guillotine, thunder sheet, strobe lights, and even secret doors, The Hyonodrome is a purpose-built horror theatre.  AUDITIONS ARE COMING UP!  See sidebar for details.

Young devotees of Horror, Sci-Fi and Suspense have a summer camp to call their own! Creepshow Camps face “fright” with curiosity and creativity, revealing the secret techniques behind scary entertainments’ vitality and power. Workshops led by our dedicated staff of teaching artists engage participants, hands-on, in activities that teach and reinforce the fundamental skills in monster make-up, special effects, sleight of hand and stage combat. In our theatre venue, campers screen classic horror movies and rehearse on-stage for farewell performances given for family and friends on the last two days of every Creepshow Camp session.
